Points

Points are typically represented as people, facilities and assets on the map. They can be latitude, longitude, addresses, cities, or even represent administrative areas like zipcodes. In all visual forms, each record in your data will be represented as one point on the map.

Points Layer

Plot hundreds or even thousands of points on the map. Each point will represent a location, asset, event, etc as an icon that can be sized, clustered, and colored in many different ways using the various properties on the appearance and alerts tab.

Cluster Drill

Clusters are grouped based on visual proximity on the map, which will vary based on zoom level. Additional options to change the cluster style are available.

Density Maps

Density maps provide a visual that identifies where there is a dense number of locations. As the number of points increase in a given area, density maps will render a higher color intensity.

Text

Overlay text directly on the map, using the label property. Each text record behaves like a pin/point with dynamic control over the text object’s size and color.

Shapes / Lines

Shapes and lines are typically represented as custom regions or administrative areas (state, country, etc). This geometry data can originate from a variety of sources.  They can be latitude, longitude, addresses, cities, or even represent administrative areas like zipcodes. In all visual forms, each record in your data will be represented as one point on the map.

Regions / Shapes

Display common administrative areas (country, state) or custom regions as a layer, reflecting many different kinds of geographies. Lines can represent water, electricity, or be used as data visualization to communicate relationships between points.

Introduction to Shapefiles

Lines / Routes

Display polylines line segments that can represent linear assets like power lines, roadways, water lines.

Hub-Spoke

Create visual relationships between locations. Unlike the Line/Route layer, hub-spoke layer draws line segments from origin to destination.

[/ezcol_4fifth_end] [ezcol_1fifth][/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Radius

Radius / Buffer provides an “as a crow flies” visualization using distance. This visualization provides a distance-based approximation of distance in miles / km. Use 1 or multiple origins.

Other Layer Types

There are other data sources and requirements for mapping that require external services or advanced visualizations. These advanced visualizations can include ESRI powered overlays with weather patterns or live wildfires, or custom layers powered by indoor maps and animated graphics.

Geo Sankey Visualization

The Sankey diagram displays the visual flow, typically linear. CMaps Analytics import/ export visualization embraces a Sankey diagram concept, but binds input and output visuals to geographic location.

Indoor Maps

Define indoor map layers which can be assigned to a given map. Powered by an SVG based viewer, indoor map layers are viewable in CMaps views, but currently requires engaging with the Centigon Solutions team for creation of Indoor Maps. Soon, you will be able to create your own indoor maps with CMaps Analytics Indoor Designer.

Custom Map Layers

Custom Map Layers are designed for implementing SVG and GIS based integrations using CMaps Analytics JavaScript APIs. Custom map layers allow your developers to integrate visualizations and external services not yet provided out of the box with CMaps Analytics.

Premium Layers (Drive / Routing)

Premium layers incorporate external cloud services that enrich your analysis with drive time analysis and 3rd party data. Premium layers do come with some geography or usage limits, so please reference documentation or contact CMaps Analytics team for availability.

Drive Time Points

Drive Time points provides the same functionality as points layers, with additional calculations for drive time/distance displayed in the InfoWindow. Currently drive distance points will display the distance from a single point of origin.

[ezcol_1fifth]createlayer_drivepolygon[/ezcol_1fifth] [ezcol_4fifth_end]

Drive Distance Polygons

Drive Time Polygons allow designers to specify a single location (origin) and draw drive distance and time polygons based on the road network. This feature is powered by CMaps Analytics cloud services that process inputs in real-time to draw one or multiple polygons. The use case for this s

Driving Directions

Driving directions layer is used to display the driving path from an origin to one or multiple destinations. This layer is useful to communicate a path / route instead of a straight line on a map.

Google Places

Google Places layer exposes the entire Google Maps business listing at user’s fingertips as a proximity based, categorized search. Google Places layers is a premium layer and requires an additional Google Places enterprise license.

Geo Services

Premium layers incorporate external cloud services that enrich your analysis with drive time analysis and 3rd party data. Premium layers do come with some geography or usage limits, so please reference documentation or contact CMaps Analytics team for availability.

Web Map Services (WMS)

Web Map Services (WMS) layers allows direction connections to ESRI, or other GIS servers for layering more complex and data intensive visualizations.

ESRI Feature Service

ESRI Feature service loads map layers, also known as feature services, directly from on-premise versions of ESRI ArcGIS. This map layer will render interactive map tiles and also display attribute data when clicking on the layer.

ESRI Points Layer

ESRI ArcGIS points layer will connect to on-premise versions of ESRI ArcGIS, and load points from a feature service, allowing CMaps Analytics to display and control styling.
