GMaps Plugin Premier Install Instructions

The following is install instructions for the trial version of GMaps Plugin. If you require install instructions for GMaps Plugin Trial, please CLICK HERE

1. System Configuration
Ensure that you have disabled UAC (Vista and Windows 7).
Disable UAC Instructions

Computer User Security Rights (Vista and Windows 7 only)
To install and use add-on components, you will be required to have administrative rights on your computer to install software. To review if your profile has these rights, right click on the Xcelsius program and “Run as Administrator.” If you are prompted for a login you will need to contact your IT department to obtain the necessary access rights to your PC.

2. Check your SAP Dashboards Version #

It is very important you know exactly what version of SAP Dashboards you are running so you can install the correct GMaps Plugin. Please use the following key to ensure you install the correct version of GMaps Plugin.

SAP Dashboards Versions: 5.3.0-6.0.2
Use GMaps Plugin 3.0-3.5

SAP Dashboards Versions: 6.0.3 and Greater
Use GMaps Plugin 3.6 and Greater

3. Download your Software 
Download GMaps Plugin Centigon Solutions customer self service portal
Login to Centigon Solutions customer portal.

4. Run the Add-On Install Wizard for Registration

The following process will register and unzip the XLX add on which will be installed into Xcelsius (step 4).

1. Open the EXE downloaded from the Centigon Solutions customer portal
2. Accept the terms of use and click Next
3. Enter your license key


NOTE: If the license key validation fails to connect with Centigon Solutions servers, it may prompt you for a manual registration key. Please contact support and we will provide you with the required key to force an install. If your key has already been registered or is invalid, please contact support and we can work with you ensure you can successfully install the product.

4. Select a folder on your computer where you will extract and access the XLX add-on package, documentation, and templates after completely the install wizard.

IMPOTANT NOTE: The component installer will NOT install directly into SAP BusinessObjects or Xcelsius. Instead it will unzip the XLX file and component resources (documentation, templates links)
5. Click Install
The install wizard will place the .XLX files, documentation, and templates into the directory defined in step
6. Click Finish

5. Install GMaps Plugin .XLX File

When you un-package the XLX file (see step 4 above) you will now need to install the file directly into Xcelsius.

NOTE ON SSL XLX– After un-packaging GMaps Plguin there is an SSL and NON-SSL version. Do NOT use the SSL version unless the dashboard(s) you are publishing are hosted on a site with a valid certificate and are accessed via HTTPS. You will use NON-SSL version of GMaps Plugin for dashboards accessed via HTTP. Otherwise you could experience difficulty viewing your map on the server.

1. Open SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards, Xcelsius, or SAP Crystal Dashboard Design
2. Go to File>Add-On Manager
4. In versions of SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 6.0.3 and later if you already have a full or trial version of GMaps Plugin installed, you will need to remove it first before adding the new XLX.
3. Click Install Add-On
4. Navigate to the directory where you have your XLX trial for GMaps Plugin.
5. Select the XLX file.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure you are using the correct version of GMaps Plugin that is compatible with your version of Xcelsius. View requirements and compatibility
6. Click “Close”
7. Click “Save and Close”
8. You can chose to save or not save your dashboard at this point before Xcelsius closes.
9. Re-open SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards, Xcelsius or SAP Crystal Dashboard Design
10. Your component is now ready to use within the Components window, at the bottom of the Maps folder.

Using your Google Maps for Business ClientID

GMaps Plugin Premier requires you to have a pre-existing ClientID procured directly from Google. The key is typically GME-YOURCOMPANYNAME. This key should be inserted into your dashboard project in the spreadsheet and bound to the KEY property, located at the bottom of the General tab. Upon binding your key, you can configure and view your map.

If you publish to a server and get a map error where no tiles appear, you will need to provide the domain to your Google Maps administrator within your company to submit the domain for authorization.

Troubleshooting GMaps Plugin

SYMPTOM: When I restart Xcelsius, I get errors thrown or the canvas shows up black.
SOLUTION: This is caused when you install a Flex 4 version of GMaps (3.6 or 4.0) into a Flex 2 version of SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards (earlier than 6.0.3). You need to ensure that you have downloaded a version that is compatible with your dashboards.

SYMPTOM: When I install my XLX it tells me that I am running a Flex2 version of the component and I need a Flex 4 component.
SOLUTION: This is caused when you try to install an incompatible version into SAP BusinessObjects Dashboards 6.0.3 and later. You simply need to obtain the correct version of GMaps Plugin that is compatible with the Flex 4 version of Xcelsius.

SYMPTOM: When I preview my dashboard works OK, but when I publish to my server I get the following error:
“Deployment to domains is not supported with the trial version of GMaps plugin. If you need support to demo the trial on your domain, please click OK and we will be happy to assist you. Please include the following url in your support request:â€�

SOLUTION: This is expected behavior for the trial version. If you attempted to install the full version and still get this error, please log a case at our customer support portal.

SYMPTOM: When I install and publish my dashboard to a server I get the following error:
“Initialization failed: please check the client id,
swf location, version and network availability.”

SOLUTION: You need to contact our sales support team to authorize the domains for which you would like to test GMaps Plugin. Also make sure you check your internet connection first.
