CMaps Analytics Security
CMaps Analytics origins as an on-premise Business Intelligence and business app mapping solution directly influences the security designs, policies, and measures to ensure your confidential data is protected.
Google Docs / Drive User data
CMaps Analytics will utilize your email and user information on installation only. All subsequent connections to load CMaps Analytics will use a public key, generated on installation.
Spreadsheet Data
No data within your spreadsheet or displayed on the map is ever transferred outside of the Google Spreadsheet, EXCEPT for geocoding (see geocoding below)
Geocoding
Geocoding is the process of transforming locations (cities, addresses, states) into coordinates (latitude, longitude). CMaps Analytics is designed to automatically geocode any locations that are NOT formatted as Latitude,Longitude. This geocoding process requires the map to security transfer the contents of the “Locations” column to an external geocoding service where the values are transformed and returned to the map. These geocoded locations are cached up to 30 days for the purpose of providing faster performance for business users when subsequent geocode requests are submitted.
To avoid any geocoding / transfer of data to a geocoder web service, you can use Latitude,Longitude in the spreadsheet which can be rendered onto the map natively in the browser.
Google Drive Data
CMaps Analytics is designed to search your Google Drive for .cmaps files. These files contain configuration data for custom maps templates. No other data files are accessed by CMaps Analytics. At no time is any file on Google Drive ever transferred, downloaded, or accessed by CMaps Analytics.
External Data Source
CMaps Analytics is a Javascript API and series of services, similar to Google Maps. In fact, CMaps Analytics also loads Google Maps into Google Sheets. The goal of external service connectivity is to bring you instant innovation and powerful APIs.
