Regions / Shapes
Display shapes as a layer, reflecting many different kinds of geographies. From Countries, States, Zips, and even custom regions, all regional data is currently configured as an ESRI Shapefile. All regions can have custom alerts logic that controls color and visibility. Want to learn more about Shapefiles? Introduction to ShapefilesÂ
Built-In Region Files
CMaps Analytics Designer ships with built-in shapefiles for World Countries, every country by state, with others on the way. Feel free to request any standard geography and our team of experts will add it to the list.
For each Shapefile, you have “Shape Keys” which will correspond to your data, so that values and other properties can be properly assigned. CMaps Analytics will automatically match your data to the Shapefile keys.
Custom Shapefiles
CMaps Analytics Deisgner supports custom ESRI Shapefiles, which can be loaded via URL. Along with a shapefile, CMaps Analytics requires a data key file which is formatted as a single column TXT or CSV file. This file will contain a list of distinct values and is obtained from a Shapefile’s Database File (DBF). Complete instructions are provided for connecting CMaps Analytics to a custom Shapefile
Note, that inside of CMaps Analytics Designer, it is required to load Shapefiles as HTTPS
Data Requirements
Locations Property:Â When using a Shapefiles layer the Locations property is important to map each location to a shape to control visibility and mapping of properties. For example, if your Shapefile contains 50 states by name, then you will need to ensure the state names match in your business data.
If your locations property is populated with business data that is incomplete, only those locations will appear on the map. For example, if you use the US by State Shapefile, but your business data has 3 states worth of data, only those 3 states will appear.
