Display the Default Map

By default CMaps Analytics map will display a single layer containing data points. To provide complete control over your map view, you can launch CMaps Analytics Designer.

Step 1. Click on the Sharepoint page that you would like to view CMaps Analytics

Step 2. Click on Edit Page

Step 3. Click add Web Parts

Step 4. Click on the “Maps” category and then select CMaps Analytics

In the next section you will customize the map from CMaps Analytics Designer.

Importing a Map from CMaps Analytics Designer

The output of CMaps Analytics designer is a configuration file (XML). Importing this XML file into a sharepoint requires you to upload the file into a Document List.

Step 1. Export your XML configuration file from CMaps Analytics Designer. Learn how to use CMaps Analytics Designer

Step 2. Import your XML configuration file into a Sharepoint Document List.

Step 3. Get the URL to the XML configuration file

Step 4. Paste the URL into the CMaps Analytics Designer property sheet. This step assumes you have already inserted the default map onto your Sharepoint page.

Step 5. Click Save. Upon clicking  save CMaps Analytics extension will load the XML containing all of the detailed map properties for appearance and behavior.

Connect to a Sharepoint List

CMaps Analytics views can connect to any Sharepoint list, without the list needing to be visible or present on the site. To bind your Sharepoint List and fields to the map, you will need to use the list Name and column names.

Step 1. Find the list that you would like to connect to your CMaps Analytics view.

LIST REQUIREMENTS:

Your sharepoint list will need to contain specific fields / data to effectively visualize the information on a map. There are 3 required fields

Locations: Locations can be represented as a  comma seperated latitude,longitude, address, or any other geographic locations that you would like to display as pins, regions, or other layer types.

Labels: Labels are displayed on the map when you select a pin or region.

Values: Values are numeric measures, utilized for the analysis and visualization options available in CMaps Analyics.

Step 2. View the List and capture the column names that will provide each property (locations, labels, values, etc). You will need these values for Step 3.

 

Step 3. With the CMaps Analytics web part open, first enter the List name into the List Name property.

Step 4. With the CMaps Analytics Web part open, enter the column names you will use for the respective properties.

Step 5. Press save to re-load the map.

How to Import a Spreadsheet to Create a Sharepoint List

If you have data in Excel that you quickly want to import into Sharepoint, the following tutorial will explain the process for creating a Sharepoint List from Excel, so it can be re-used for CMaps Analytics Views.

1) Open SharePoint site.

2) From Site Actions menu click on more options

3) It will open a popup to create SharePoint items, now click on the List from the left hand side categories and then choose “Import Spreadsheet� from the center panel and click on create button from the right panel. Same is highlighted with the red in below screenshot-

4) It will redirect you to a new page which will have couple of fields and a browse button to choose your spreadsheet. Provide the name and description and click on the browse button and select your spreadsheet from file system the click on Import button. Same is highlighted in the below screenshot-

5) Once you click on the import button it will open the spreadsheet and It will ask you to select a table range, please select the value as per the below screenshot and click on import button-

6) once you click on the import button it may ask you login, provide the credential and login and it will create you list.

NOTE: This option to import spreadsheet will only work in the IE.
